Match Play Format - CHAPMAN
9 Holes on the Front 9
2-Man Chapman Match Play
Play from the Blue Tees
Each player will hit a tee shot.
For the 2nd shot, each teammate will play their partner's tee shot.
From the 3rd Shot until the ball is holed, the teammates will be alternating shots as follows:
After each player has hit two (2) shots, the team will then select the better ball, which would then be played out, with the players alternating shots until the ball is holed out. Once the better ball is selected, the player who did not hit the ball to its then position will play the next shot. Alternate play will follow until the hole is completed. Remember, it is Match Play, shots may be conceded!
Determination of Team Handicap - USGA Recommendation
Based on a combination of each teammates 18 Hole Course Handicap as follows:
60% of the lowest handicapped player (Rounded to the nearest whole number)
40% of the highest handicapped player (Rounded to the nearest whole number)
Handicaps will be adjusted off the lowest Team for each Match.
The Team with the lowest Team Handicap in the group will play at scratch.
The strokes given during the match will be “as they fall”, with half-strokes used accordingly, based on each Hole’s Handicap. For example, if Team #1’s Team Handicap is a 3 (for 18 holes) and the opposing Team #2 is a 6 (for 18 Holes), Team #2 will receive 1½ shots for the 9 Holes. On the scorecard, 1 Dot (Stroke) on the toughest hole and ½ stroke on the 2nd toughest hole.
All matches are played for the entire nine-holes, as each hole won or tied is worth points to the team. Every hole may influence final team standings at the end of the season! The maximum points a team may win each Week is 27 points. (9 points x 3 matches)
Points per Hole – 9 Total Points Possible
1 Point for Winning a Hole
½ Point for a Tie on the Hole
0 Points for Losing a Hole
